A few months ago, we organized a special LinkedIn live.

The idea: invite 3 former 'Skeelzian' candidates on stage, to share their secrets.
Result: 150 registrants, dozens of questions and a concept we're not ready to let go of!

The replay of the event.

In this article, you'll discover 5 tips from 5 talents (in positions, in research and freelance) who lent themselves to the exercise, in writing. Thank you again!

Authenticity and risk-taking

Hello Arnaud! Can you briefly introduce yourself?

Hello Guillaume, delighted to open this article! I'm Arnaud Samson Arnaud Samson27 years old, living in Braine-l'Alleud, near Brussels. I've been working at Mobilosoft for three months. With a degree in marketing, my career began at Havas in media, then at PixMob in sales. My job search method, on LinkedIn, was characterized by precision in my choice of keywords, enabling me to target offers that matched my aspirations.

My most important tip for standing out in the eyes of recruiters is to remain authentic. It's crucial to filter your searches to be precise, and to read job descriptions carefully. Engaging in discussions, even with companies that don't seem to be a perfect match for you, can refine your search and strengthen your interview skills. When I applied to Mobilosoft, even though I didn't meet the Dutch language requirement, I still applied to demonstrate my willingness to learn. In interviews, be transparent about your skills and objectives. Find out all you can about the company and the job, and show your enthusiasm and personality.

An interesting aspect of my interview with Mobilosoft was the personal connection, which emerged precisely from my research! Before the interview, I had consulted my future manager's LinkedIn profile and noticed that he, like me, enjoyed padel. During our discussion, I broached the subject, immediately creating a link. These details can add an extra dimension to your application, making you memorable and distinctive in the eyes of recruiters.

"Interview practice is essential".

Hello Minh-Hong!

Hello Guillaume! My name is Minh-Hong KieuOriginally from Vietnam, I've been living in France for the past four years. With five years' experience in digital marketing, I'm currently working for Flottes Automobiles. My background is varied: I started out as a student doing internships, then worked in various digital marketing companies, focusing on SEO and social networks. I came to France for my master's degree in international strategic management at the Université de Paris-Saclay. After my Master's, I joined KMR Consulting, a company specializing in e-commerce on Amazon. Here, I acquired skills in market analysis, product management, and promotion via PPC and social networks. Recently, I joined Flottes Automobiles as Email Marketing Manager, managing a large volume of B2B emails.

The board

My key tip for success in the recruitment process is to create and actively use your network, especially via LinkedIn. When I arrived in France, I built my network by connecting with people in digital marketing. On LinkedIn, it's important to present your skills and certifications well, and to have a CV that stands out. For interviews, be natural and show that you can fit into the team. Practice is essential: the more interviews you have, the more you learn to communicate effectively and present your values. It's also important to learn about the company and understand its products. As for networking on LinkedIn, I optimized my profile with relevant keywords and sent personalized invitations to broaden my connections. These strategies helped me to be visible and relevant in my job search. Finally, remember that every experience, whether positive or negative, is an opportunity for learning and development!

What about his life project?

Charles, welcome to our blog!

Thank you Guillaume! I am Charles TessierI joined the world of agencies and media around 5 years ago. My career began at Dentsu Aegis, specifically iProspect, in a unit specializing in e-retail. After 2 and a half years, I took a 5-month break to travel, then went freelance. I worked with Publicis on a major contract, which was a huge boost. Today, I combine freelance work with travel, currently living in Morocco thanks to a contract with another agency.

The board

My advice: emphasize your life project in your professional approach. This authenticity is well perceived by companies. It's crucial to be honest about your objectives and know how to set conditions. For example, I have always expressed my need for autonomy and mobility, which has been respected and integrated into my contracts. Your professional network plays an important role; often, if you maintain good relations, opportunities come your way. You don't have to be active on social networks to succeed as a freelancer. One last piece of advice I often give: getting started often opens up more possibilities than you think!

Enhancing relationships

Leo, hello!

How do you do? My name is Léo Bosquéetrained in communications and marketing. Before finishing my studies, I started as a freelancer in Belgium under the status of student entrepreneur. I worked on various projects, including with the Brussels Food Market. I then joined Accenture in Belgium, working in recruitment marketing before moving on to their advertising agency. Later, I managed projects for the eCommerce platform of a large multi-brand store and a commercial reform for a player in waste management and treatment. Recently, I decided to become a freelancer, leveraging my experience in digital marketing and consultancy as well as learning about entrepreneurship.
I'm currently working on a mobility-related assignment for an automotive player.

The board

My advice is to value relationships. Keeping in touch with recruiters and colleagues can lead to future opportunities. It's also crucial to be transparent about your expectations and skills. I'd like to add that it's important to see failure not as an end, but as a learning stage. Indeed, often, after a failure, we can be surprised by the good opportunities that emerge. I encourage you to always see the glass as half full, so that you remain motivated and confident in the pursuit of your professional goals, despite the challenges you encounter!

Present your career path

Finally, hello Jérémy!

Hello Guillaume. I'm Jérémy Jérémya digital marketing expert with initial experience at L'Oréal. Having sought a variety of assignments, I joined the agency side where, over five years, I developed in-depth operational and strategic skills.

I'm now ready to take on a managerial role, putting my skills to good use in a more strategic context.

The board

My advice: be consistent when presenting your career path, and clearly explain any changes of position, especially if they are frequent. This can become a real strength if well justified. Avoid talking negatively about previous employers during interviews. Important: it's particularly beneficial to meet potential teams before making a commitment, to understand their way of working and make sure it's the right one for you.
